Good Fit
The Metro DIY kit is the same frameless single sliding shower door as our installed builds - one fixed glass panel beside one sliding panel that glides on a top-mounted stainless-steel header track. Because the door slides instead of swinging, it never arcs into the room, which makes Metro the configuration built for standard tub and alcove openings where a hinged door would hit the vanity or wall. Same 3/8" tempered glass, same stainless-steel hardware, same factory nano-coating - you just handle the install in 2-4 hours with a helper and save the install premium. Wider opening (60"+) that needs dual entry? Eclipse - a bypass slider with two moving panels - may be the better fit.
Your opening is a standard tub-shower or alcove, roughly 46-60" wide.
You want a clean, frameless look with a flush, hardware-light profile.
A swinging door would block the vanity or toilet - or you're comfortable with a two-person, 2-4 hour install to save on labor.

Install Notes
Most homeowners install the Metro in 2-4 hours with a helper. Metro runs on a single-slider layout - one fixed panel and one sliding panel on a top-mounted stainless-steel header track. The rollers are adjustable and the install is reversible, so the panel can be trued after mounting and set to open from the left or right. The kit includes a printed step-by-step guide and a QR-code install video - and free phone/text/video support if anything looks off. Plan for two people: the trickiest step is lifting the glass into place.
Anchor the top header track to the studs or substrate using the included template, then set the bottom guide so the sliding panel tracks straight.
Seat the fixed glass panel against the wall jamb and secure it plumb so the sliding panel has a true reference to glide against.
Hang the sliding panel on its rollers, then fine-tune the adjustable rollers until it glides smoothly and sits even against the fixed panel.
Fit the vertical seals and bottom sweep, silicone the wall joints, and let it cure 24 hours before the first shower.
Care And Maintenance
Use these simple maintenance habits to keep the Chrome hardware and 3/8" clear looking clean after installation.
Squeegee after use and wipe down with a non-abrasive cleaner to reduce spotting and soap-film buildup.
Use a soft microfiber cloth and avoid harsh chemical sprays directly on handles, rollers, and visible trim.
A quick visual check keeps the enclosure sliding cleanly and helps you catch alignment or wear before it becomes a leak issue.
Shipping And Warranty
Review fulfillment timing, return windows, install support, and the DIY warranty before you choose a stocked kit.
Shipping
Ships in 2 business days from our U.S. warehouses. Free pickup, $95 local delivery within 30 miles, or $300 flat nationwide to the lower 48.
Custom
For openings outside the 3 stocked sizes, we fabricate a custom Metro to your exact opening. Same 1-year DIY warranty, same stainless-steel hardware.
Returns
Free return shipping on unopened kits. Tempered glass cannot be recut, so cut, drilled, or installed glass is non-returnable.
Support
Phone, text, or video call 8am-5pm ET, 7 days a week. The number is in your kit instructions. Our support team has installed every kit we sell.
1-Year Warranty
Up to 3-Year Warranty
Plastic seals and door sweeps are wear items on both DIY and professional installs (1-year coverage) - a yearly look-over keeps water where it belongs. Damage from improper installation (over-torqued hardware, wrong anchors) isn't covered - our free DIY support line helps you avoid it.
Compare to Eclipse
Metro is a single-slider with one fixed panel and one sliding panel - built for standard tub and alcove openings (about 46-60" wide). Eclipse is a bypass slider with two sliding panels and dual entry, for wider openings (60"+) where a single slider would block half the entry.

This page
Single sliding kit - one fixed panel + one sliding panel on a top-mounted stainless-steel header track, with adjustable rollers and a recessed handle. The most-shipped sliding model in our catalog.

Frameless bypass slider - two moving panels, dual entry, refined header detailing. For wider openings (60"+) where a single slider would block half the entry.

Q&A
Yes — sliding kits like Metro are among the easier DIY shower door types because the track does most of the alignment work. Plan 3 to 4 hours with basic tools. The hardest single step is leveling the top track; once that's right, the rollers and panels go in quickly.
A 4-foot level, tape measure, pencil, electric drill (with carbide masonry bit if mounting to tile), Phillips and flathead screwdrivers, silicone caulk gun, painter's tape, rubber mallet, and a helper for the glass-setting step. Anchors, screws, seals, and Chrome hardware are all in the kit. You supply 100% silicone (kitchen/bath grade).
First-time installers average 3 to 4 hours from unboxing to first water test. The longest single step is leveling and securing the top track — about 45 minutes if your wall is plumb, longer if you need to shim. No showering for 24 hours after install while silicone cures.
Yes — tile is the most common install scenario. Anchor through tile into wall studs or solid blocking using carbide-tipped drill bits on low speed. Confirm there's stud or blocking at hinge/bracket locations before drilling. Wavy tile or out-of-plumb walls add 30 to 60 minutes but require no tile work on your end.
The 60"×64" kit is sized for openings within typical wall variation. Per May 2026 catalog, this SKU fits wall openings from 56" to 60". Measure your opening width at three heights (top, middle, bottom) and use the smallest value — a 1/4" variation top to bottom is common. Pick a kit whose adjustable range covers your smallest measurement.
Custom Metro doors are fabricated to your exact opening. Custom adds 5 to 7 business days to the lead time. If you're between standard sizes, we'll often quote both routes (standard with shims plus custom) so you can compare.
Chrome is the most universal hardware finish — it matches most modern, traditional, and transitional bathroom fixtures including Moen, Delta, Kohler, and Grohe lines. The Chrome on the Metro kit comes color-matched across the hinges, handle, seals, and visible track.
Stainless-steel adjustable rollers with self-lubricating polymer bushings. Glide is silent once installed; you'll hear the bottom guide pop into the U-channel when you close the door, which is a soft mechanical click, not a grind. If you ever do hear a rumble, the rollers are user-adjustable for height — usually a 1/8-inch tweak fixes it.
Yes — Metro is fully reversible at install. You decide left-open or right-open when you mount the rollers. If you want to flip the direction later, the rollers can be swapped without ordering new hardware.
The header and bottom tracks are open at both ends so debris flushes out with shower water. Once a month, wipe the inside of the header track with a damp microfiber and a 50/50 vinegar-water mix; same for the bottom guide channel. The track is anodized aluminum so the cleaning won't damage the finish.
Yes. The 60-by-64-inch size is built for a standard 5-foot (60-inch) alcove tub, the most common bathtub in U.S. homes. The 64-inch height covers the tub opening without running floor-to-ceiling like a walk-in door. Measure your tub's wall-to-wall width to confirm you land in the 56 to 60 inch range.
Yes. The panels overlap and the bottom track guides splash back toward the tub, while the side jamb seals against the wall. For a tub-shower, run the water with the sliding panel closed on the showerhead side and the spray stays in the tub.
DIY-installed Metro kits include a 1-year warranty on glass, hardware, seals, and Chrome finish. Covers manufacturing defects and finish degradation under normal use. Doesn't cover damage from improper install (over-tightened hardware, wrong anchor type) — call our DIY support line if you have questions before drilling.
In-stock kits ship within 2 business days. Standard ground freight runs 3 to 5 business days within the lower 48. Total door-to-door is typically 1 to 2 weeks.
The Metro ships in 2 boxes — one foam-padded crate for the glass panels (~85 lbs total) and one for Chrome hardware. The longer box is roughly 78×8×4 inches and fits through a standard door.
Inspect the boxes at delivery. If you see crushed corners or visible damage, photograph and refuse the delivery — we replace the kit at no charge. If you discover damage after opening, contact us within 48 hours of delivery.
Yes — standard ground shipping to all 48 contiguous states is $300 flat per enclosure. Free pickup also available at our U.S. warehouses, or $95 local delivery within 30 miles of either warehouse. Alaska and Hawaii are available with a freight surcharge; contact us for a quote.
Clear is the standard glass at the listed price. HD Low-Iron, Gray, Bronze, Rain, and Frosted glass each carry different upcharges depending on size. Selecting a glass type updates the price live at checkout.
DIY saves roughly $400 to $700 on the total project versus our professional install option for Metro. You're trading 2 to 4 hours of your time for that savings. Pro install includes measurement, fabrication, and labor with a 3-year warranty; DIY is hardware-warranty only.
Yes — for orders over 5 kits, contact us for trade pricing. We also offer Pro accounts for contractors and bulk-purchase customers.
Hardware is replaceable — call us within 1 year(s) of purchase under the DIY warranty. Glass damage during install isn't covered; always use the suction-cup glass handler if included or have a helper for the glass-setting step.
DIY is 1-year hardware. Professionally installed by Dulles Glass is 3-year hardware AND labor. The DIY trade-off: you save the install cost in exchange for a shorter warranty window and no labor coverage.
A step-by-step install video is referenced on the printed instructions (QR code) and on our YouTube channel. The Metro walkthrough runs about 15 to 20 minutes for the full install.
Yes — live phone, text, and video support 8am–8pm ET, 7 days a week. Best to call before drilling permanent holes if anything is unclear.
Most install steps are reversible. The U-channel can be re-anchored (filling old screw holes with caulk). Hinges and brackets can be re-mounted. The only step that's permanent is drilling — measure twice before drilling.
