The Prima DIY kit is identical to our professionally installed Prima - a hinged glass door beside a fixed glass panel in one flat plane. The fixed panel fills the extra width so the door stays a comfortable size, which makes Prima the configuration built for wide openings a single door can't span. The only difference from a pro install: you handle it yourself in 2-4 hours with a helper and skip the install premium.
Standard single-door opening (26-30" wide)? Solo may be the simpler fit.

How to measure your opening
Approximate measurements are fine for a quote - but tempered glass can't be re-cut, so a custom-fabricated build is the safer path if your opening falls between stocked sizes.

Width at three heights
Measure across the top, middle, and bottom. Use the smallest value - a 1/4" variation top to bottom is normal.

Measure the height
From the curb or shower floor up to where the top of the glass or header will sit.

Check walls for plumb
Hold a level against each side wall. Minor lean is absorbed by the install; a severe lean is worth a pro measurement.

Confirm curb or floor
Make sure the curb is wide enough to land the bottom guide; for a curbless install, note the floor condition.

Installing your Prima kit
Most homeowners install the Prima in 2-4 hours with a helper. The hardware is reversible and adjustable, so the glass can be trued after mounting. The kit includes a printed step-by-step guide and a QR-code install video - and free phone/text/video support if anything looks off. Plan for two people: the trickiest step is lifting the glass into place.

Mount the wall channel and hinges
Anchor the U-channel and hinge plates to the studs or substrate using the included template.

Set the fixed panel + support bar
Seat the inline panel and brace it back to the wall with the support bar so the wide glass stays rigid.

Hang and adjust the door
Hang the hinged door, then fine-tune so it sits plumb with an even gap to the panel.
- 4
Seal and cure
Run the seals and bottom sweep, silicone the wall joints, and let it cure 24 hours before the first shower.

How hard is the Prima DIY install?
Most homeowners with basic DIY skills install the Prima in 2-4 hours with a helper. The kit includes a printed step-by-step guide, a 12-minute install video (QR code in the box), and free phone/text/video support 8am-5pm ET, 7 days. The trickiest step is lifting the glass panel into place - plan for two people.
What tools do I need?
Drill, level, tape measure, silicone caulk gun, painter's tape, and a helper. The kit includes all anchors, screws, and the install template. No specialty tools required.
What's the price difference between DIY and Install?
DIY Prima runs $685-$1300; professionally installed runs $1,300-$3,900. The install premium covers laser measurement, fabrication-to-fit, in-home installation, old-door removal, and the upgraded 3-year parts+labor warranty (vs 1-year DIY hardware-only).
What if I order the wrong size?
Tempered glass cannot be recut, so we don't accept returns on cut-to-size kits - but we'll work with you. Call our DIY line before ordering custom for Prima to confirm dimensions, or use the size dropdown to switch to an in-stock size that fits.
How long does shipping take?
Ships in 2 business days from our U.S. warehouses. Standard ground freight runs 3-5 business days within the lower 48. Same-day pickup available if you're local.
What's the DIY warranty?
1-year warranty on glass, hardware, seals, and finish under normal use. Manufacturing defects are covered. Damage from improper install (over-torqued hardware, wrong anchor for substrate) is not - call our DIY line first if you're not sure.
Can I upgrade to professional install later?
Yes - if you're in our service area and the kit is unopened, we'll credit the DIY purchase against an installed quote. Call (866) 452-7707 for the upgrade path. Out-of-area orders stay DIY (we don't sub-contract installs nationally).
