Measure Your Opening

Measure carefully before ordering so your kit lands inside the available adjustment range.

  • Measure width at top, middle, and bottom
  • Check for wall alignment (out-of-plumb walls are common)
  • Confirm fit within adjustable ranges

Choose the Right Kit

Match the adjustable range, hardware strength, and enclosure format to your opening.

  • Look for adjustable width ranges
  • Choose between pro-grade hardware options for stability
  • Match shower door enclosure to your layout

What to Expect

Your project goes smoothly when measurements are accurate and each step is planned before setup.

  • Most projects take a few focused hours
  • Two-person setup recommended for safety

DIY PRO TIPS

A few simple checks up front make installation easier and help the door perform better over time.

Uneven Walls

Look for adjustable hardware to help compensate for minor wall variation.

Measure Twice

Tempered shower glass cannot be cut or modified after manufacturing.

Easier Cleaning

Nano-coated glass helps reduce water spots and long-term maintenance.

How to Measure for Your DIY Shower Door

Measure after your tile or surround is finished so your kit fits the final opening.

+

Before You Start

  • Tools: Tape measure, level, pencil, and notepad.
  • Measure the finished opening only—after tile, surround, or final wall finishes are installed.

01 — Measure Width

  • Measure the opening at the bottom, middle, and top.
  • Use the smallest width when choosing your kit.
  • If the widths differ, choose a kit with enough adjustment range for that variation.

02 — Measure Height

  • Measure from the top of the curb, base, or tub deck to your desired door height.
  • Note the showerhead location so it does not interfere with the glass or hardware.

03 — Check Clearance

  • For hinged or pivot doors, make sure the door has room to swing open.
  • Allow the door width plus 2″–4″ for handles or towel bars.
  • Tip: Mark the swing arc with painter’s tape before ordering.
  • For sliding doors, confirm your entry side is clear.

04 — Confirm Your Layout

  • Inline: Measure wall-to-wall at three heights.
  • 90° Corner: Measure each wall section separately.
Quick Reminder Only order from finished measurements. If tile or surround work is not complete, wait before measuring.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about shower doors

Start with floor clearance. If the bathroom is tighter or the opening conflicts with a vanity, toilet, or tub edge, sliding usually wins. If you have more room and want a fuller entry feel, a hinged door becomes the stronger option.
